Richmond Aquatic Centre "Watermania" - Richmond, BC
The City of Richmond, B.C., needed a new Aquatic facility to provide for its rapidly increasing population. To accommodate this need, the City decided to take an untraditional approach to the acquisition. They advertised for public/private proposals and after reviewing the submissions, they entered into a build and lease arrangement with Riverport Business Park Inc.

The resultant Aquatic Facility "Watermania", opened in July, 1997, contains two main pools, a 57 metre, 8 lane pool with two bulkheads and 1, 3. and 5 metre diving platforms, leisure pool and a wave pool with interactive water play structures. Two 53 metre water slides with separate splashdown tanks are included. There are also two 15 person whirlpools, a steam room and a sauna. Associated facilities include; fitness centre, two multi-purpose rooms with sprung wood floors and a Physio-therapy Massage Clinic.
