The Trail Aquatic Centre - Trial, British Columbia
The 12,000 residents of Trail, British Columbia are enjoying their new aquatic centre, described by an international design panel "as a great little project". The $5.1 million facility has spectacular views of the Columbia River and the surrounding mountains.

The new centre features an 8-lane, 25 metre program pool, a shallow-water leisure/teaching pool with water sprays and bubblers, a "conversation pit", warm water area, a whirlpool, an indoor/outdoor water slide and a steam room. Also included is a weight training/fitness area, a multipurpose room and administrative areas.
The Trial Aquatic Centre has been honoured with a Facility of Merit Award. Judges of the international design competition, sponsored by Athletic Business Magazine, declared "the facility speaks very simple and elegant language, and shows a project needn't be large to be well done.
