City Center Aquatic Complex - Coquitlam, BC
Serving a catchment area of approximately 180,000, City Centre Aquatic Complex opened its doors in March 1994, at a cost of $8.2 million. With an average daily usage of 1,200 visits, this facility can boast of a predicted 84% recovery rate for 1997. The decor, with its Florida Keys theme, has created a facility that is a true tropical paradise with palm trees and pelicans, hanging silk buntings and dramatic hand painted murals.
The 8 lane 50 mete competition pool is complete with a moveable bottom, the first in BC. The ability to raise and lower the water level makes the 50 meter pool suitable for any number of activities and events. The tropical lagoon (leisure pool), in addition to wave making capabilities, includes a water slide, a raindrop unit, watersprays, rapids channel, bubble machine, swirlpools, sauna, and steam room. Additional services include; poolside café, fitness centre, physiotherapy clinic and childminding facilities.
